Dr. Wilden,

It’s hard to figure this. I stayed at 0 mg from Sept 18th till today. I’ve had almost no symptoms except heaviness in legs.

Hips and shoulders have been okay.

Today I received the latest labs taken Oct 15th. I remember you saying that a SED rate of even 25 was marginally okay at my age, but I was concerned at the 34.

So, I’ve put myself back on at 3 mg (as you recommended) today Oct 16th, and will see how it goes.

It was wonderful not being on that stuff. I felt empowered for a month. Sillly PMR

Dr. Wilden,

Aug 5th 3mg, Sept 1st 2mg, Sept 12th 1mg. Since Sept 18th ZERO mg. Tests were run on Sept 24th.

Both CRP and SED are elevated. SED rate at 19 is disappointing after previous low of 9. I understand it’s still acceptable but the rapid rise is a concern. CRP is more of a concern at 45 from 21.

I was feeling kind of okay when dropping prednisone from 3 mg to 2 but not so good now at ZERO.

I feel much worse in the morning, and get progressively better after noon. VERY stiff getting out of bed. Brain Fog in morning. Moderate back pain (I know you think it’s arthritis which I never had before), slight shoulder pain. Significant back pain when I inhale deeply, coincident with dropping dosage.

Significant weakness in upper legs, hard to get out of chair. Legs feel like lead. Hip and knee symptoms are coming back somewhat. Worse in morning.

Questions and request –

What should I do, or not do, in order to avoid re-activating PMR?

I’ve had significant tooth, oral surgery stuff past 6 weeks which might account for higher CRP, what do you think?

I don’t want to abuse it and will only go in for testing only when I feel the need, but I’d appreciate a fresh 52 week script for testing EVERY 2 weeks. Since scripts never seem to make it to Quest when faxed (please try anyway) I’d like to drive over and pick up a paper copy as well.

Many thanks!
